Filipino netizens panic as the Bagyong Agaton-scare spread across various social networking sites like facebook and twitter.
According to rumors, the first tropical cyclone of the Philippines will be as destructive as Super Typhoon Yolanda while some said that it could be worst.
Rumors said that the Bagyong Agaton will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on January 16-17, 2014.
With the trauma the Filipino had experienced from Yolanda, the rumor quickly went viral overnight after it had became the topic on the social media sites.
On twitter, the hashtag “#Yolanda” went trending after twitter users discuss about the alleged super typhoon repeat on the country.
Here is the viral photo that suggests the coming super typhoon approaching the country.
As much as the name “Agaton” is true as the scheduled name for the first cyclone that would appear in the country for 2014, the news that it’s currently approaching the Philippines is a hoax.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) through forecaster Gener Quiplong denied the rumor.
“It’s too early to predict if the low pressure area (LPA) we are looking into right now will be as strong as Yolanda,” – Quiplong said.
“Actually, the possibility of that LPA to be a storm is still being monitored. Also, the LPA can be dissolved and not to continue as a storm,” – Quiplong added.
With this, we consulted the international weather station accuweather.com to see if the screenshot is true. Accuweather.com is where we saw Bagyong Yolanda even before the PAGASA made any information about it.

Based on the two satellite images, it looks like that they have some similarities. However, just like the PAGASA said, it’s too early to tell that this Low Pressure Area (LPA) would develop into a tropical cyclone let alone it would approach the country.
So that’s it, everything is just a hoax.
